Four days in a city where lunch is the point of the morning
Florence rewards the curious eater. Behind the Renaissance facades are market halls, tiny trattorias and wine bars where the city eats far better than its postcards suggest.
We'll start at the market with a local guide, learning what Tuscans buy and why, then take that knowledge into the hills, to Chianti Classico, where the cypresses, stone farmhouses and cellars give the wines their character.
In between: a masterclass with Sarah-Jane, long shared tables, and enough free time to wander Santo Spirito or find one last espresso at the counter.
The day-by-day itinerary
Day one · Thursday 18 March – Arrival and the first table
Arrive in Florence and settle into our hotel in the historic centre, a few minutes from the Duomo. An evening aperitivo across the river in Oltrarno, then our first supper together at a neighbourhood trattoria with the wines of Tuscany.
Day two · Friday 19 March – Markets, larders and Tuscan wine
A morning in the market with a local food guide: pecorino, cured meats, olive oil and warm schiacciata, tasted as we go. A relaxed afternoon masterclass with Sarah-Jane on the grapes and appellations of Chianti Classico, followed by a long lunch.
Day three · Saturday 20 March – A day in the Chianti hills
A full day among the cypresses and stone farmhouses of Chianti Classico, with two estate visits and cellar tastings. Lunch at a working fattoria, then back to Florence for a free evening.
Day four · Sunday 21 March – A slow morning and a farewell lunch
Time to wander San Lorenzo, the artisan workshops of Santo Spirito, or one last espresso at the counter. A final shared lunch of Tuscan specialities before you make your way home.
Estate visits and restaurants are booked with our producers and confirmed with you before departure.
